This is brag time , counter to how I was raised. My mother always said that if any bragging is to be done, let others brag about you. Be humble. My mother failed. Look! My letter appeared in today’s NY Sunday Times, in response to last week’s story on the Rainier cherries in the State of Washington. I highly recommend that story. There were three other letters in addition to mine.
Way to go Frances!
Thank you, Sally!!! Sometimes it works.
Fantastic, Frances! Now if they would just put you in the Book Review! I, too, love cherries. The Rainiers are pricey, so I buy them rarely. But the plain old Bings? I buy 4 lbs. at a time — all for me! I get a kick out of making clafoutis when I am invited to a group meal during cherry season in June. I fill the baking pan with cherries, complete with pits and stems, pour the batter over and bake until it’s suffused with cherry juice. Leaving the pits and stems lets me fantasize that I’ve just picked the cherries and popped them into the pan to celebrate the harvest!
I would like that recipe. Sounds delicious and close to the cherry tree. I was hoping a NYTimes reader from Washinton would send me a crate of cherries but I guess this happens only in Hallmark movies.
Ya, send her the recipe. I don’t cook, but I like to eat. 🙂
A fun experience. Sometimes we need to try what we think won’t work and we get a nice surprise. I miss you.
I’m missing you, too, Elva. Are you working on anything right now? Am in total lock down, hope I don’t forget to socialize with real people after this pandemic is over. Continue to take care.
NYT? ho,hum. Let me know when The Wordsworth Gazette prints one of your articles. I’ll nominate you for a Nobel.
